Welcome Obama (2013)

Sensitive and soulful, this socially relevant saga revolves around the issue of surrogacy and motherhood. Yashoda, a young lady in a remote village of Andhra Pradesh, accepts to lend her womb to a wealthy foreign couple (Lucy and her mister) for the want of money to get her disabled girl child operated.

Once the baby is conceived through IVF, Lucy takes care of Yashoda and the baby in her womb.The movie takes a dramatic turn when during a regular medical check-up, the doctor's wrong diagnosis makes Lucy feel that her baby has some abnormality. Lucy decides to abandon her baby and since the baby cannot be terminated at that stage, she asks Yashoda to send the child to an orphanage.

Yashoda rejects the idea of sending the kid to orphanage and decides to bring up Krishna, the child on her own. Once everything seems well, Lucy arrives after eight years finding Krishna absolutely fine and demands 'her son' back.

The issue turns into a legal tussle where both Yashoda and Lucy claim Krishna. However, Yashoda backs off and asks Lucy to take Krishna based on the belief that Lucy can give Krishna a better life. Krishna leaves with Lucy and gets amused by the rich gifts and quality of life offered. But once he realizes that his mother Yashoda is not with him, all the toys and food offered find no worth.

Towards the end, Lucy realizes that motherhood is more about bond of love and affection than the bond of blood. The movie has a happy ending with Krishna getting reunited with his true mother Yashoda.
