Vakkeel Vasudev (1993)

This evocative family drama delves into the ups and downs in the life of Vishnu, and NRI who lives in the US. Upon returning, he is helped by Thomas Kutti, who struggles to deal with Vishnu, as he drowns deeper and deeper into an alcoholic stupor. Then, in a twist of fate, Vishnu's car becomes involved in a hit-and-run accident, causing the death of the only male member of an impoverished family. With their only earning member's death, the family falls into dire financial straits. While Vishnu attempts to help the family, a greedy lawyer, Vasudevan tries to convince the family to file a lawsuit, that could win them a great deal in compensation. Will the aimless Vishnu find new meaning in his life, by helping the family, especially the departed's young daughter, Shree Devi? How will the investigation into the drunken-driving case unfold?
