Thilakkam (2003)

Laden with laughs, this soulful family-oriented drama delightfully depicts the mysterious happenings in an idyllic village of Kerala. Unni is the only son of Padmanabhan master (Nedumudi Venu) and his wife (K. P. A. C. Lalitha). When he was just 10 years old, he was lost in a crowd during a temple festival, where he he had gone along with his neighbor Panikkar (Oduvil Unnikrishnan), popularly known as Poorappanikkar. Eaten up by guilt for having not fulfilled his responsibility, Panikkar too did not return since he decided to return only after finding Unni, even though several years have elapsed without result. Ammu (Kavya Madhavan) Panikkar's faithful daughter, like Unni's parents, has also held on to the belief that her father will return one day with Unni. True to his word, Unni is discovered and brought back to the village by Panikkar, much to the delight of everyone. However, Unni is no more be bright and intelligent kid he used to be. He is a mentally-challenged adult who causes much trouble in the community. Ammu begins caring for the young man, but relationship develops, the question remains, is this young man really Unni?
