Theerthadanam (2001)

This soulful romantic drama revolves around a retired school teacher Karunakaran (jayaram), highlighting his relationship with Vinodhini (Suhasini Maniratnam), a woman who used to be his student. Karunakaran, occasionally gets letters from Vindohini. She mentions in the latest letter that she will be going on a pilgrimage to the Mookambika temple. It is gradually revealed that Karunakaran is actually hiding everything about Vinodhini from his wife. He lies to his wife and sets off to the Mookambika temple, determined to meet Vindohini. Flashbacks expose the truth that Karunakaran had a love interest in the young and vulnerable Vinodhini, many years ago, when he used to be her teacher. What happened in the past? How will events unfold when Karunakaran finally meets with Vinodhini?
