Trivia:
The Good Dinosaur (2015) is the first Pixar film to have a Thanksgiving release since Toy Story 2 (1999), as well as the first one to have a November release since The Incredibles (2004), and the first one to not be released in June since Up (2009).

This film marks the first time Pixar has released two films in one year, following the release of Inside Out (2015) in June 2015.

The song featured in the first official trailer is Crystals by Of Monsters And Men.

According to the original director Bob Peterson, the inspiration for this film came from his impression of the dinosaur animatronics he saw on a childhood visit to the 1964 New York World's Fair.

Marks the first Pixar movie to have two music composers Mychael Danna and his brother Jeff Danna as opposed to just one composer as done in many of the studio's past films.

The first Pixar Thanksgiving release not to be directed by John Lasseter.

Before the rescheduling from 2014 to 2015, a Pixar short animated film, Party Central, was set to accompany the film.

In August 2013, Blue Sky Disney reported that due to story problems the director and producer had been removed from the film.

Peterson said the inspiration for the movie came from a childhood visit to the World's Fair where he was impressed by some dinosaur animatronics.

On April 24, 2012, Pixar announced that it would be titled 'The Good Dinosaur'.

Bob Peterson and John Walker humorously titled the film 'The Untitled Pixar Movie About Dinosaurs' and even created a logo for the mock title.

Bob Peterson, who came up with the idea for the story, directed 'The Good Dinosaur' until August 2013, when he was removed from the film.
