American actress and producer Taraji Penda Henson was born on the 11th of September, 1970 began her Hollywood career with guest-roles on several television shows before making her breakthrough in Baby Boy. She has also worked in Hustle & Flow, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button for which she received an Academy Award nomination and also starred in the remake of The Karate Kid. She is a regular cast member on television series such as The Division, Boston Legal, and Eli Stone. She won the NAACP Image Award for her role in Person of Interest. She became the first African-American woman to win a Critic's Choice Television Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series, a Golden Globe Award and was nominated for two Emmy Awards for the drama series Empire.
