Poramboku (2007)

Youthful and upbeat, this romantic drama traces the twists and turns in the life of Karthik (Navdeep), an ambitious and handsome young man. His dream is to become a renowned movie star, primarily because his mother, who passed away in his childhood, always claimed that he looked like a hero.

Karthik's sister takes responsibility for him and brings him up like her own son. In order to learn the technical skills of acting, he wishes to join the film Institute, but it requires a steep sum of Rs. 1 lakh as fees.

At this critical juncture, Chaitra (Ekta Khosla), a young woman claiming to be a filmmaker, moves into their village. Karthik and his friends are ecstatic to join hands with her, as she seems to be wealthy and knowledgeable.

However, it turns out that Chaitra is a runaway and as soon as her foster mother (Vadivukkarasi) comes to know her whereabouts, she promptly sends goons to pick her up. However, Chaitra disappears from the scene without giving any notice to Karthik.

Finally Karthik reaches Hyderabad with the help of his sister and meets Chaitra in a dramatic turn of events. Karthik starts his efforts and finally gets the chance to play the male protagonist in a movie.

Again the goons attack Chaitra and try to whisk her away only to get saved by Karthik. Chaitra reveals her flashback. Her foster mother who brought her up plans to snatch her property by getting Chaitra married to her brother Satti.

When Karthik was about to face the camera, that woman demands Chaitra. But Karthik categorically tells her that he is in love with her. Although Chaitra decides to sacrifice her happiness for the fulfilment of Karthik's dream, the young couple are unable to hide their love for each other. Will they succeed in resolving their struggles together and embark upon a bright future together?
