The work of sculpting the Amman statue in a temple at a village called Kalvadaagam, has been unfinished for many years. The sculptors (stapathis) who come to complete the work on it are driven out of the village on the same night. The priest who carries out the pooja to the Ursavar idol and the temple's watchman are found dead in mysterious circumstances; Police arrest the son of Villan Rajeswari's son on suspicion. Rajeswari, who goes to get him released, on her way back, finds her helper Aaraan killed by the evil spirit. Enveloped by fear, she invites a priest, Namboothiri. The Namboothiri priest who reaches the village, says that the evil spirit is the reason behind all murders and disturbances occurring in the village. He leaves the village advising that to drive away the ghost, the Amman idol is to be installed in the village temple.
With no other options available, the villagers go and meet the Stapathi, who has left the work of sculpting the idol, leaving it incomplete and request him to come back and complete the work. The Stapathi declines their invitation and says that he has become old and he informs them that he will send his disciple and the grandson Vishwa who has been nurtured by him. Vishwa refuses to leave the grandpa and the Stapathi tells him the story behind him and explains Vishwa, who he is.
