Makarand Mane was born on 22nd January 1984 in a town named Pandharpur, Maharsahtra, India. He finished his schooling in his hometown Akluj. His inclination to social work brought him to “Manashakti Prayog Kendra” in Lonavala near Pune where he finished his junior college. On a visit to Pune, where he had gone to meet his friend at Lalit Kala Academy he happened to witness a play ‘ Ifizinia ‘ directed by Prof. Pravin Bhole. The ambience at the Academy and the play got him so involved that he ended up doing his graduation in ‘Theatre and Drama ‘from the same Academy in 2007. After his education Makarand worked as an assistant director to many serials in Mumbai. He finally got to do a feature as chief assistant director under the able guidance of National award winning film maker Mr. Rajeev Patil in ‘ 72 miles ‘ and ‘ Vanshavel’. Makarand was later associate director to films like ‘ Lagna Pahave Karun’, ‘ Mangalashtak Once More, ‘ Bavare Prem He’. ‘ Ringan (The Quest)’ is his first feature film as a Writer and Director.
