Kummi Paattu (1999)

Embedded with charged emotion and fierce action, this family-oriented drama is set against a rural backdrop, and centres around Thangaraj, the eldest son of the village leader, Dharmaraj (Sivakumar). However, Thangaraj is completely cut off from his own family and has gradually turned into an alcoholic. He has been misdirected by his uncle, who wishes to control him for his own ulterior motives. The uncle feeds Thangaraj with poisonous hatred for his father, since Dharmaraj has remarried and has another son, Selvaraj with his second wife, Ramuthayee (Radhika). Thangaraj is made to believe that his own father, Dharmaraj was responsible for his mother's death. Dharmaraj and his family plan to get their son Selvaraj married to Amaravathi, a beautiful young woman. In a cruel twist of fate, Thangaraj falls in love with Amaravathi. How will he react when he comes to know of the upcoming marriage between Amaravathi and Selvaraj? Who is really responsible the death of Thangaraj's mother?
