Asamapta (1956)

This socially relevant family drama revolves around Pratap, a young man from an impoverished family, who has an exceptional talent in playing the Indian musical instrument, tabla.

Rama is a beautiful young woman, whose mother passes away suddenly, leaving her under the care of a devious uncle. So, she feels forced to attempt suicide and is saved by Nidhu, a sincere and honest young man. Nidhu marries Rama to ensure her safety and their son is Pratap.

As Pratap is from an impoverished and lower-caste family, he is denied the right to an education. However, the bright young man is taken to an expert proponent of the tabla and becomes an award-winning musician. Will Amiya Mazumdar, his benefactor accept him despite his lower-caste status?
