AR Murugadoss

A R Murugadoss is an Indian producer, director and screenwriter. Murugadoss began his education at the Government Higher Secondary School and went on to complete his Bachelor of Arts degree at Bishop Heber College in Tiruchirapalli. He subsequently became a cinephile, watching up to seven movies a week. At Bharathidasan University, he started to write sketch comedies and acted in them. After college, he tried to join the Madras Film Institute, but was rejected. Nevertheless, he persevered and persistently stayed in the creative and artistic field of cinema, doing whatever he could until he had the opportunity to work with S J Surya for the film, Kushi (2000). S J Surya recognised his immense talent and recommended him to Ajith, for directing his debut film, Dheena (2001). He went on to write and direct several blockbusters like Ramana (2002), Ghajini (2005), Stalin (2008), and also produced Engaeyum Eppothum (2011). There has just been no looking back for Murugadoss. He has steadily risen in stature, revealing a rare flair in storytelling, as well as a deep understanding of the technical aspects of cinema. With his movies becoming tremendously appreciated by the audiences as well as garnering critical acclaim, Murugadoss has firmly established himself as one of the most sought-after directors in Indian cinema.
