Embedded with charged emotions and family sentiments, this intense social drama follows the family of widowed Advocate Triloki Prasad. He leads a luxurious lifestyle and lives with his two sons Ashok, also a lawyer, and Alok, who is on the verge of joining their law firm. When Alok begins to spend more and more of his time in the local slums with a former courtesan named Sarju Bai Banaraswali, instead of learning the intricacies of his profession, conflict begins to build between father and son. In fact, Triloki ignores his better judgement to aid in the possession and demolition of the slum in which Sarju Bai lived, rendering her homeless. Alok, for his part, leaves the house and begins earning a livelihood as a horse-carriage operator, much to the dismay and disgust of his father. Will the relationship between father and son continue to deteriorate indefinitely? Can circumstances ever change enough to restore the affection, love and respect between them?
